We're excited to announce the next step on our NHRL journey, NHRL has teamed up with ESPN.
Back on June 1, we invited our best competitors to form 16 teams, fielding one bot across our three weight classes. The results of that event have not been made public... but that will change soon!
On August 1st at 11:00 pm EDT, ESPN will air a 24 minute TV show on ESPN2 from our Teams event as part of their Ocho programming. The show will introduce the sport, competitors and NHRL to new fans around the globe.

Event rules
For the NHRL Teams event, we have invited our best competitors to form 16 teams. Each team has a 3lb, 12lb, and 30lb bot, making 16 bots per weight class.
At the start of the day, each weight class is split into 4 groups of 4 bots each. Within each group, each bot fights each other once. In each group table, a knockout or a tap out is worth 4 points, and a judge's decision is worth 3 points. The top 2 bots in each group advance to the quarterfinals of the knockout bracket. We go through each bracket until we have one winner for each weight class.
We are also tracking points for each team. So for every fight, a bot can earn 3 or 4 points for its team. At the end of the event, the top 3 teams get prizes.
A fight ends when a bot is knocked out (can't move for 10 seconds), taps out (the builder surrenders the fight), or if the full fight time of 3 minutes has elapsed. If the fight goes all 3 minutes, then a panel of 3 judges decide the fight winner using the criteria of Aggression, Damage, and Control.
