At Havoc Robotics, we are at the forefront of delivering thrilling live broadcast experiences to audiences worldwide. The National Havoc Robot League, or NHRL, is the largest and most accessible robot combat league in the world, home of the 3lb, 12lb, and 30lb World Championships hosted at the House of Havoc in South Norwalk, Connecticut. Each of our seven events are streamed to thousands of fans worldwide. Builders combine groundbreaking technology and off-the-wall ideas to amaze audiences, compete for thousands of dollars in cash prizes, and attempt to claim the coveted Golden Dumpster.

Role Overview

Havoc Robotics is looking for a proficient freelance 3Play Operator to operate our NewTek 3Play system during live broadcasts. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with 3Play, an understanding of Blackmagic equipment and software, a deep grasp of live production workflows, a keen sense of timing, and be based in the Southern Connecticut area.

Job Duties

  1. Efficiently operate the Newtek 3Play system during live broadcasts to provide timely and relevant replays and highlight packages.
  2. Work in tandem with the production team to create highlight packages for broadcast playback and post-event promotion.
  3. Coordinate with Directors, Producers, and other control room staff to ensure seamless integration of replays and highlights into the live broadcast.
  4. Assist in setting up and breaking down 3Play equipment before and after broadcasts.
  5. Proactively address and resolve any technical issues with the 3Play system during live productions.
  6. Organize and archive replay and highlight clips for future use and reference.

Requirements

  1. Proven experience as a 3Play Operator in live broadcast environments.
  2. Strong familiarity with NewTek 3Play systems and related equipment.
  3. Ability to multitask and make quick decisions under pressure.
  4. Acute attention to detail and a keen sense of timing.
  5. Solid communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team setting.
  6. The ability to travel to, and from South Norwalk, CT before and after broadcasts.
